TIME WITH THE MOTHERS
Twice every year, Members of GEM meet up with selected members of the Council of Mothers to interact on social and general life issues. Topics for discussion is determined by the Council of Mothers in consultation with the Pillars of GEM.
Our Leadership Seminars are aimed at equipping young women to become effective leaders by instilling in them, the skills to take up leadership roles in their schools, communities and offices. The GEM Creed for leadership is based on integrity, teamwork, determination, self-knowledge, and emotional intelligence. Leadership expects are brought in for the annual program.
ADVOCACY PROJECT (OUR NEW BABY)
An annual essay competition between senior high schools on selected topics based on issues affecting the girl child and women. Topics on how to curb the rape and sexual harassment menace in society will be selected each year. The best essay will receive a cash award to implement their advocacy project.
MONTHLY MOTIVATIONAL OUTREACH
The monthly motivational outreach programs are held from February to November. Speakers drawn from diverse backgrounds with expertise in different d=fields serve as presenters. Topics are carefully selected to meet the needs o the particular school or community being visited.
CAREER BUILDING SEMINARS
During the annual Career Fair, GEM facilitates productive interaction between girls and successful women from diverse fields including: entrepreneurship, education, politics, architecture, engineering, law, business, health care, finance, armed forces, public service, Information Technology (I.T), Arts, etc.
Members of GEM are also encouraged to explore questions including:
- Reason(s) for selecting chosen fields.
- Educational requirements for desired career fields.
- Employment opportunities related to a particular field.
- Suggestions for how a young girl could get ready for the particular field.
